💙🐶 Hartley – Loyal Companion in Need of Understanding Home 🐶💙

🐶 Hartley has been in the same home for years after being rehomed from us in 2021 when we had just started our rescue. Sadly, due to changes in his home environment, he now urgently needs a new place to go. He is a upper medium, mixed-breed boy, born in September 2020 and neutered.

🐶 Hartley is a devoted companion to his person but struggles with reactivity on walks. He has been displaying protective tendencies over his owner and does not get along with the smaller dog in the home. An experienced home, without other pets, is needed to help him feel secure and loved.

💔 Rescue Story
🐶 Hartley was originally adopted from our rescue when we first started, but due to major life changes in his home, being left for many hours alone, his behaviour has become harder for his owner to manage. His frustration of being long hours (up to 8-9) without his humans increased his protective instincts, and he has become more reactive to strangers, dogs, and visitors in the home. His owner has tried her best, but sadly, she now feels she can no longer provide what he needs due to increased working hours.

🐶 Hartley loves his person deeply. He follows his owner everywhere and gives morning kisses, happily resting his head on them in bed. He enjoys playing with toys, especially rope toys, and loves scatter feeding games.

🐶 Hartley has never been let off-lead except in private spaces and recently started to be muzzled during walks. He struggles with unfamiliar men and does not like unknown people touching his neck.

🏡 Ideal Family
🐶 Hartley needs a calm, structured home with experienced adopters who understand and manage his issues. Ideally somewhere in countryside environment with secure places to walk. He would thrive in a pet-free home where he is the only dog, or potentially with a well-matched with confident friendly female dog if introductions are carefully managed.

🐶 Hartley is a deeply affectionate dog with so much love to give to the right person. He needs patience, structure, and an adopter who can manage his guarding behaviours while ensuring he feels safe.
