ARLO is a UK surrender dog. Unfortunately family surrender him as they feelt they couldn’t give him what he needs as had a young baby. They felt that Arlo needs a home with no children and someone that he can just cuddle into and will give him 100% affection and attention.
🐶 ARLO is currently at Foster with many other dogs and that’s what he told to his Foster Mum :” Hi! My name is Arlo and I am a 2 year old miniature daschund. I am cute, so you probably will want to stroke me first thing. However, I don’t like to be stroked by people I don’t yet know, plus my legs are really short, so being so low to the ground makes everyone else seem scaringly tall and threatening. So, I may bark at you at first, but if you take your time to sit down on a chair, I’ll probably stop. Better yet if you would sit on the floor, and pretend like you’re not interested in me, give me time to sniff and make sense of you and the world around, I may even climb on your lap! Once I’ve met you a few times, and you’ve sat on the floor with me I will probably be feel less wary around you and start to allow you to stroke me, and I will probably shower you with affection, cuddles and kisses.When I came to my foster mom, I came as a nervous and unsure doggie, had constant tremors, really vocal with a lot of things, and was generally unsettled. My foster mom let me sleep on her chest and massaged me till tremors started to sibside. Since then, I have gone from strength to strength. I love sharing the home with other four legged, they seem to make me feel better about everything, I’m friendly with them all but find not too big dogs less daunting. I would love one or two sibling fourleggeds that are more sure and settled than me and willing to share their mom/dad and home. I would probably like to play with them too with time. I feel more confident on walks if I have other fourleggeds with me to show me the way. I need a human who will be willing to go slow, allow me plenty of time to sniff and not be in a rush. I love green areas to sniff abs run about in and am very good off lead trailing my human. Sometimes I become overwhelmed on walks, especially with lots of people and traffic, and need to be picked up and comforted for a while before regaining my confidence to go forward on my own fourlegs. Quieter natural areas are great for me. I am not a high energy dog, so one or two walks a day taking my time is more than enough especially if I have my own garden to go out and in to…oh, how I love that!! I love to be plated with in the house, my foster mom spends time throughout her day between work and chores, playing with me abd especially before bedtime. We play chase the squeaky object, tug of war, catch me if you can and many fun games we make up as we go. Oh, and how I love snuggling under the covers with my foster mom for night time sleep, I feel soo much better being warm next to my human.I am really good at going outside to the toilet and letting you know what I want and need with a mixture of my fun vocal sounds. My foster mom said that she has a constant smile in her heart since I came to her home…indeed, I’m such a cuddly, kissy, affectionate, playful and endearing little boy once I know and trust you. ”
ARLO can be anxious, he can snap and have a bite history, not bad bite. He will need experience owner to help him overcome his anxiety and stubbornness.
ARLO is fully healthy. Chemically castrated, will be booked for a full castration soon. Vacinated, microchipped.
